Our District

Bethel A.M.E. Church, Bloomfield, CT is a member of The First Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. The First Episcopal District comprises seven conferences and covers the Northeast Corridor of the Unitied States and the beautiful country of Bermuda.

Our Episcopal Leader

BISHOP GREGORY G. M. INGRAM was appointed presiding prelate of the First Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church on July 4, 2012, during the 49th Quadrennial Session of the denomination’s General Conference, held in Nashville, Tenn. At the 2008 General Conference, Bishop Ingram was elected to chair the General Conference Commission, which oversaw planning and organization for the 49th Quadrennial Session. In his new assignment, he will preside over seven annual conferences comprising Delaware, New England, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda.
Bishop Ingram was elected and consecrated the 118th Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church in 2000. His first appointment was to the Fifteenth Episcopal District, which comprises Angola, Namibia and most of South Africa. His second appointment was to the Tenth Episcopal District, which encompasses the State of Texas. Under his visionary leadership, Bishop Ingram introduced the District to his 10-Point Partnership Plan, a strategy for improving every aspect of life for the people of the Tenth Episcopal District.

Our Presiding Elder

Reverend Hart is a Presiding Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She acknowledged the call to preach in 1993 at Bethel A.M.E. Church of Reading, Pennsylvania under the pastorate of the late Rev. Bealie Stancil, Jr.

Bethel A.M.E. Church, Bloomfield is the Land of Unlimited Love. We believe Stewardship is one of the main foci of the Christian Church, and Bethel Bloomfield takes very seriously this responsibility of cultivating the people and resources that God has entrusted to the Church’s care. The current pastor of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Bloomfield is the Rev. Daylan K. Greer, Sr.  

In May 2017 Bethel Bloomfield will celebrate 100 Years as a church. For the first 99 years, “the church has been sometimes on the mountain where the sun shines so bright; sometimes in the valley in the darkness of light–but through it all she has learned to lean and depend on Jesus”. (as quoted from Rev. W. Melvin Campbell, Sr (who served as Pastor of Bethel from 1970 – 1978).
